Question #13 from Mike
Did both Bud and Bob actually encounter concentration camps in WWII?
Which ones?
Which ones?
Here's the deal: anyone in the "Contributors" list can post an entry, and then of course can be replied to. The general idea is that we'll use this to assemble a family history (to the extent possible).
If you're having any trouble logging in, posting messages or comments, or anything else at all, just get in touch with John. (He's in the "Contributors" list. :)

Bob definitely did. I just saw a picture of him in June, where he was standing before the gate with the name of the camp overhead. It wasn't Auschwitz or Treblinka or Buchenwald -- maybe Bergen-Belsen? [...Google interlude...] Nope, I think it was Dachau. Also in June, I read a letter from Dad to Nan in 1944 (maybe '45); he talks about meeting up with Bob and how shaken Bob was from the concentration camp, but it seems to me he ALSO said that he himself had seen one or more camps -- that it had horrified him, was the worst thing he'd ever seen in his life, etc. Don't think he mentioned the name though.
